We’ve been really heartened, here at Fast Forward Removals, to see so many people thinking of innovative ways for us all to keep that sense of community, during these unsettling times of social distancing.
Here are some of our favourites, which we hope will help you come together over the coming weeks. Take care of each other 💚
Don’t forget your workout
Many local fitness clubs are taking to social media to ensure that people can keep their routines and take part in their classes. If you’d like to make sure that children are still involved, body coach, Joe Wicks, will be holding a 30 minute PE class every weekday at 9am on his YouTube channel.
Brush up on your musical history
Sky Arts has a range of musical documentaries and concerts for you to watch, with everything from the history of punk to Dolly Parton, the Beatles in India, and the story of Trojan Records.
Rediscover your local library
You may not have been able to make it before your local library’s doors closed, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t access their many books, as much of their catalogue is available online as ebooks or audiobooks. Not a member? You should be able to get a temporary membership now, and become a full member when the library reopens.
Learn how to draw
Keep your brain active and learn a new skill with Harptoons Publishing, who will be live streaming a draw along lesson, every day at 6pm, live on Facebook.
Play Scrabble
It’s time to get inventive with connecting with the older (and not so old people) in your life. If your relatives are tech-savvy, then they may fancy a game of Scrabble, so why not install Words With Friends, and give them someone to play and a different way to keep in touch every day?
Head to the West End
You can catch the West End show “The Wind in the Willows” online for free, as it’s streaming now.
Find out more about animals
If you’ve always wanted to go on safari, Cincinnati Zoo is holding home safari screenings on Facebook live, every day. If you’d like to learn more about animals, Brookfield Zoo will be showing a zoo live chat.
Get help with home schooling
It can feel really overwhelming to suddenly become the go-to person in every subject, so you can get some help from the experts and education companies here, with some free resources and ideas on things to do.
Go on a bear hunt
Children’s favourite, Michael Rosen, has a YouTube channel where he reads some of his favourite poems and stories, including “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt”. Other authors have put together recitals and activities here.
We hope this gives you some different ways to find some routine and community over the coming weeks. Maybe we’ll be on one of the activities at the same time as you. Wishing you all the best from all of us here at Fast Forward Removals.
