Moving to Hertfordshire?

map of Hertfordshire

We have been moving people in and around Hertfordshire, Essex and London for over 40 years and we know that it’s a great place to live and work.

Hertfordshire even comes with the strapline “County of Opportunity.” Whether you are thinking of moving to Hertfordshire or within it, there’s bound to be a place that you can make your own here.

What’s Hertfordshire like?

A home county in southern England, Hertfordshire covers 634 square miles and borders London, Essex, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire, so offers lots of different options for commuting and days out.

Hertfordshire itself boasts many country parks and stately homes, as well as live music venues and busy shopping areas.

An affluent county, with easy commuter links to London, property prices tend to be higher, the more expensive places found in Harpenden and Radlett, while Hoddesdon and Stevenage are on the more affordable side. From softplay to indoor golf and bowling, there’s also plenty of places to keep the children entertained on rainy days.

There are also a range of impressive religious buildings, including The Cathedral and Abbey of Saint Alban, Amaravati Buddhist Monastery and Bhaktivedanta Manor Hare Krishna Temple.

With a combination of towns and villages, heritage and contemporary conveniences, five towns in Hertfordshire often find themselves rated in the top five places to live in the country. These are Much Hadham, Bishop’s Stortford, Harpenden, Berkhamsted and St Albans. One of the safest places to live in the country, it has a fairly low crime rate and something for most people to enjoy and appreciate. There are a number of private schools and character cottages, if they are in your consideration.

Thinking of setting up a business in Hertfordshire?

Home to large corporations head offices, such as Ocado, Tesco, Affinity Water, EE and T-Mobile as well as start ups, Hertfordshire can be a great place to work and set up a business. If you are hoping to take the leap and start up on your own, Herts Growth Hub offers a lot of support and advice. You can also take advantage of some of the funding even if you’re already established.

Did you know?

This may also be some good pub quiz knowledge – Hertfordshire is home to many firsts. These include the first New Town, being Stevenage, and the first Garden Cities, being Welwyn Garden City and Letchworth Garden City. The first modern roundabout was created in Letchworth New Town, and the first eighteen hole golf course was created in Royston.
